Southenders draw the future at Village Green

July 2012: At this year’s Village Green festival Southenders (6 – 80-ish years old) drew landmarks, characters and scenarios for Southend present and future.

You will see drawings of Southend life featuring locals like the father relaxing at a seafront library that serves free food. Or Jo, the happy lollipop lady who’s found a way to make children put their mobile phones away while they cross the road. Also visitors from further afield including extra-terrestrial day-trippers to the longest pleasure pier in the universe, and other aliens who’ve decided to make Southend their home and take part in community growing projects.

A Vision of Inter-species Collaboration at the Southend Transition Community Allotment – The the biggest community allotment ever. It’s 10 years in the future. An alien craft crashes and they are invited to stay. A sustainable way to grow food, inclusive to everyone. Aliens, animals, and disabled people all working together as part of Southend in Transition.
